Thank you for visiting our Home Page

The Gospel and Methodism is alive and well in Orrell & Lamberhead Green

This site is here to serve you and help you keep up to date with what is happening in the circuit and the various churches. If you are a visitor to this home page please sign our guest book via the link at the bottom of this page, let us have your comments and suggestions, and tell us where you have "surfed in" from. Take some time to browse around, listen to the music and find out what is going on here.

All our churches offer a warm welcome and we will be especially pleased to see you at any of our services or activities. Simply follow the links on the left to our churches, preaching plan, prayer room, upcoming events and useful links page, but before you do, a little about the circuit..........

Wishing all our readers God's richest blessing

The circuit is on the edge of the Liverpool District (18/21) and lies between the towns of Wigan & St.Helens and straddles Junction 26 of the M6 & M58 Motorways. To find exactly where we are, simply click on the signpost image on the left and link to a map of the area.

The circuit is served by three ministers and two supernumerary ministers. There are currently eleven local preachers and five readers. We are very actively involved in with Network, NCH Action for Children, Home Missions and World Church and publish a quarterly magazine called "LINK".

Following our Millennium celebrations the circuit has linked with the United Church of Zambia, we played host to six visitors from there for part of their four week stay in England. Our former Superintendent Minister and her husband went on a return fact-finding mission to their consistory and the subsequent feedback has deepened our awareness and determination to understand the many problems of that region. We are now exploring ways that we can help those in Zambia and have now set up HODP (Help Orphans Development Fund).  More information about this fund can be obtained from Mr & Mrs Farrimond on Tel 01942 274102.

We have a number of authors and poets in our congregations and the latest edition is a collection of poetry called Travelling Light by David Lythgoe ISBN 1 901999 130. If you want to know more, David can be contacted on 01695 555190.

Although there are no Alpha courses running currently, we will update the upcoming events page as and when they resume.

If you want to know more about Alpha in general, please click on the Alpha logo on the right, to link to the UK Alpha Web site.

The churches in the circuit have strong ecumenical links with all the other denominations through Churches Together (in  Pemberton CTIP, in Orrell CTIO, and Billinge CTIB) and share joint services from time to time. The Circuit have produced 3 successful musicals in partnership with other local churches - "Hopes and Dreams",  "Burning Questions" and "In at the deep end", the latter being written by people in our circuit, including our minister at the time, The Revd Dr Andrew Pratt, with Brian Pennington (Concept and sketches) and music by Alex Jarrett.

Aspects of Worship are overseen by the local preachers meeting who meet regularly once a month and regular reviews consider its effectiveness, relevance and attractiveness. We currently have 11 local preachers and 5 readers.
